On the outskirts of the Goričko landscape park, in Dolenci near Šalovci, somewhere at the remote end of the world, as the locals like to joke, lies Kmetija Mali raj. The small village of Dolenci is one of the few in Slovenia where you become one with nature. More than 160 different farm animals graze today on Mali Raj farm. In addition to sheep, goats, donkeys, piglets, hens, ponies and kittens, there are also cute alpacas at home here. Don't be surprised if you meet some wild animals near the forest, such as roe deer, pheasants, deer, hinds...Those who like to try their hand at farm work can help with milking goats, while children will also have fun feeding the animals.
Alpacas are a real rarity in Slovenia, and Mali Raj is one of the few farms that breed them. Alpacas, relatives of llamas and camels, are intelligent animals with a meek and peaceful character. They like to trust a person and feel good and safe around him. Their curiosity towards visitors is great, namely they stand at an arm's length distance and thus observe them. They are very attentive and curious, and for this very reason they are very suitable for various therapies. They are herd animals, so it is best that they live at least in pairs.
